Appears to be either a sponge or a large colonial tunicate. I don't know whether it is killing your coral or not. Clearer photos, posted in the thread, would likely get additional responses.

One method that works well with sponges is to expose them to the air for some time. The polyps should be fine. I would take the rock out and do a little scraping, and the rest will likely die from being exposed, especially if you use the tip of a sham wow to dry it off.
