stocking the FOWLR tanks

As stated in a previous thread, I have a 100 gallon and a 125 gallon tank. The following fish are the ones I'm attracted to for these tanks.

Yellow tang
Pacific blue tang
Mimic Tellow Peel tang
Yellow Belly Regal Blue Tang
Harlequin tusk
Banana wrasse
Majestic angel
Imperator angel
Blueface angel
Picasso trigger
Niger trigger
Arugia butterfly
Raccon butterfly

Obviously I can't have all of these in these two tanks, however, can you give me the good, the bad, and the ugly on these fish? Any additions to the list would be appreciated.

That would be a good stocking list for your tank.

picasso triggers get huge and can be real terrors. The niger trigger is a better choice but will probably get a little large. Have you considered any of the more peaceful varieties like bluethroats or pinktails?

I kind of want a Bluethroat myself. My LFS had one about 2 months ago I wanted but it wasn't time for him yet.

I like the size and look of the bluethroat. The pinktail looks to get bigger.

You could even go with a Harlequin Tusk too. They are beautiful fish &
have a personality to go with them too.

I've never owned one but you could in your tank. I would only go with 1
large Angel in your tank tho. If it was me I would switch the Raccoon
Butterfly with a Harlequin Tusk.

I'm actually thinking of doing a harelquin tusk in each tank. I have a 100 and a 125. Which would you do in each tank?

According to fishbase Picassos max out at about 10 inches. They can be aggressive but stay significantly smaller than Niger triggers, which can get well over a foot in length (couldn't find an official listing on fishbase).

Regardless I think the blue throat is a better choice.

I am not sure that nigers are all that less aggressive than picassos. I know a lot of people have had nigers turn out to utter terrors when they mature, and they do get quie a bit larger. I have owned several picassos over the years, the biggest about 6 inches. I have found them to definitely to be unaccepting of new tankmates once they mature, but overall not too bad with appropriate existing tankmates even after they mature. Also, I do not find the pinktail to be a docile trigger, like a blue throat, redtail, indian, and others. Mine is every bit as aggressive as my picasso. My picasso is usually not bothering anyone other than throwing his weight around during feeding time. My pinktail, however, will occassionally decide to take a shot at a tankmate who gets on her nerves usually in the form of encroaching near or about her cave even when she is not in it.

Hmmmmm. Maybe if you added a picasso trigger to a tank last.

And I assume the banana wrasse is too aggressive or something since no one has really mentioned it.

Beautiful fish, but the minimum recommend tank size I've seen is 150 gallons, which means they probably need an 8 foot tank minimum.

125g

Raccoon Butterfly
Harlequin Tusk

100
Majestic Angel
Harlequin Tusk
Arugia Butterfly
a small Tang maybe like a yellow eyed Kole Tang or Mimic tang

Now some of these fish will outgrow bothe of these tanks but you should be able to keep then in your tank for a while.

Which ones would you suspect outgrowing the tanks? The angels?

It mainly depends on your tank dimensions. When all the fish grow up
Some of them can get to be 8 inch fish. So having a couple in a 5 foot
or even a 6 foot tank can get pretty crowded.
