Elos Mini with a 12" AquaIllumination LED
I want to get a Elos Mini but the eLite seems to have a limited capability. The Elos is 17" wide. Do you think is would look okay with the 12" AquaIllumination Modular LED Light System or do I have to get the 24" in order for the stands to sit on the edge of the tank?
Is the entire housing the length of the LEDs? So a 24" system would have lights hanging over the edge of the Elos. I really do not want to have to hang something from the ceiling and would prefer not to have the hanging brackets off the backside of the tank. |

No, you cut the aluminum rails to the length required for the legs to sit on the sides of the tank. From what I've seen in person you would only need one AI LED module (it measures 6"x12") for the Elos Mini and you would hang it below the aluminum rails with the 12" length of the module running parallel to the sides of the tank. i believe with most of the AI leds i have seen, the 24 inch is just 2 12 inches. u could set them up lperpendicular to the longest side of the tank if u want more light.
most of the AIs i have seen were set up perpendicular to the viewing pane. |

So if I want it to sit on the edge of the tank I would have to get the one unit and if I go to the hanging option I would get the double unit and turn the units perpendicular.
One of the reasons I did not want to hang the units is that their rails seem so big and bulky.

Hey Tadashi....I would talk to Greg at ReefGeek, he's the distributor for those fixtures. Regardless if you hang it or sit it on the tank, I think you may still be able to fit two modules side by side. I agree, the rails are big and bulky....IMO the whole fixture is not the best looking, it looks to much like a science project to me but as far as the lighting goes I was quite impressed when I saw it in person.
