Removing Sinularia from Tank w/SPS

I have a big Sinularia in my 120g mixed reef which I'm trying to modify to a nearly all SPS and LPS tank (I'm leaving in some Ricordia and a Xenia colony). I've already removed two toadstools, a big leather hand, and two small Sinularia, all of which came out easily because they were attached to relatively small pices of reef rubble. The big Sinularia, however, has fused its "trunk" to the side of a large vertical rock. Taking this rock out to cut off the coral and scrub the rock can be done, but it will be mighty difficult. My question to all of you folks out there in the know is whether or not I can cut this coral off the rock while it remains in the main display? Will this have a detremental affect on the other corals, and primarilly SPS, in my tank?

Thanks in advance.

Lou

In a tank your size I dont think you need to worry, but I could be wrong. cut it as close to the base as possible and pull it out quick. I cut corals in my display and only have 40 gallons.

Just go in there with a razor blade and cut as close to the rock as you can. Ant little pieces that are left will start to form colonies, but they should be easy to get out later. I had to do this with a large Sarcophyton that was playing "chemical warfare" with the rest of my tank. I did put in a fresh batch of ROX carbon just in case right before I did it. And nothing bad happened in my 65g. And it had a pretty big trunk because it was in a high flow area.
