Glass Top

I am still very new to S/W and I have a question on getting a glass top for my tank,
Do I get a peice of glass cut for the entire top?
A couple of sections that fit across the entire top?

Do I have a peice cut that leaves a gap so it can be lifted with ease for feeding and what not?

I think that a glass top is more for fresh water. Many have an open top or some sort of netting on top of the tank (to keep fish from jumping out) to promote gas exchange on the surface.

Do you have a custom tank? or is it one of the standard tanks made by one of the bigger companies?

+1. you really don't want to have the top of the tank sealed shut on a reef tank.

I didnt think that completely sealing it off was a good idea, I had read in another post somewhere about just having glass cut for a top.

I am still very new to s/w, I have an open top on my sump and fuge but I dont have the lighting in contact with the tank.

Just have a concern with the lighting be such a close distance to all that water
Perhaps, the answer is more in getting the canopy built for the top then the lighting could be attached to the inner of that

Also if you use glass tops on your tank you would have to clean them constantly or your lighting performance will be affected.

Right now I just have some repurposed F/W equipment, but looking at getting some t5s

bulbs are 10k daylight and a Actinic

Flood bulb and another small Fluorescent over the fuge

Tank has been setup and running about 6 months, has around 40 pounds of rock most of it dry base, Coraline is speading nice.

Only have 7 snails and 4 hermits as well as the hitchickers that came in on the l/r

I believe you're talking about the top braces of a tank.
