MAG-7 noise issues
anyone else have a noise problem witht their mag pumps? I have 2 and they hum rediculously loud, like turn the tv all the way up to hear loud. Are my pumps shot or is this normal?

Mag7s are terrible for noise for some reason. Mag3, 5 are ok, 9.5 is ok, but the 7 is really bad.

I've had a Mag 7 running for about 3 years non-stop with no cleaning and it isn't loud at all. Maybe I lucked out...

You could try replacing the impeller. Sometimes they break and cause noise.

i took both of them apart and cleaned them before using them, so i know the impellers are good. Im, thinking about upgrading my return pump so maybe it will only be half as loud. Any suggestions for a return pump on a 75gal w/ 30 gal sump?

If you want to try a cheap fix and can live with less flow, swap out the impeller to a Mag5 part. This will convert the pump to a Mag5. When I had a Mag7, I changed it out for an Eheim 1260. WAY quieter and a lot more flow.
