Why is mư sand turning brown??

Certain sections of mư sand is turning a brownish color, I think its only the top layer because when mƯ snails shift through it it looks regular underneath. I'll try to post pics later if needed. Thanks

Sounds like a diatom bloom. Is your tank new?

If it is diatom's it will go away on its own. Just give it sometime and it will go away on its own.

The tank been setup for almost 2 months now. I googled diatom bloom and from looking at pics I think that is what it is. How long till it goes away? What's the cause? Is it a bad thing? Does it mean my tank isn't fully cycled yet?

it means that the cycle is over or almost over. not a bad thing in a new tank but if the cycle has been over for a while and you get them it's a sign of phosphates.

They go away as quickly as they come (everything is trying to balance out in your tank) I had brown diatoms and then came the green diatoms. They didn't last longer than a week.

Make sure you have flow to those spots.

Get these and your sand will be white:
