sump water

my first attempt adding a sump and i have leaks. hopefully its not the sump itself, if it is that answers my question. it's going to be about a week before i can get the sump running, is the water in the sump going to ok to use? sump ran overnight, took it offline this morning, have a heater and power head running now.
