Powder blue tang

Hey, i'm setting up my 125g right now and it's almost done but still in the cycling stages. I am making my tank into a 125g predator tank. I am looking to have
a puffer of some sort- not sure which kind yet
Angel- I've really been looking at the Koran
Snowflake eel
Niger trigger
and a tang- I have heard alot of difficult things about powder blue tangs but after thinking it over and trying to find a good substitute I find that I really want a powder blue tang.

If I decide to go with this (which I really want to) what are some good tips for preparing my tank for it? When in the process do you think I should put it in? Also any other tips at successfully keeping one?

Thanks alot
-AC

Also if you have any comments or criticisms of my current stock list any feedback is appreciated. Or any good ideas of what to stock.

I've had just fine luck with my PB. QT the fish for 6-8 weeks and treat with methaline blue. Treat all tangs as if they have gill flukes.

Never had a problem since.

I have a PB in my 120 but the only thing with mine is, he is so aggressive towards my other fish, and they have been in there before he was. I add to more tangs a kole and i got a ALT blue tang for free and he went after them as soon as they went into the tank. So I think he should have been my last fish, to put in.

Well, i'd imagine in a preditor tank he won't be too much of a bother to the other fish, though I could still add him last.

Thanks for the info with methaline blue I'll def be setting up my quarantine tank before I get him. To me 6-8 weeks seems a little extensive if he seems fine after 2-3 weeks but idk.

All tangs are known for having ich. Powder Blue tangs, like Achilles tangs, tend to be the harder fish to keep. They tend to stress out the most.

If you can get the fish to eat you have won most of the battle. Getting a healthy specimen is the key.

Your other problem is that puffers and triggers are often tail nippers. Depending on which puffer and trigger and what size they are when you get them will indicate where the Powder Blue is on the totem pole. I have seen puffers and triggers ruthlessly nip fins on tangs to the point where the poor fish up and died.

Because the Powder Blue will only normally harass other similar tangs, I would suggest adding the powder blue first, and then the other critters. Normally I dont suggest adding the tang first but in this case, it may be your better option if you are dead set on having a Powder Blue.

Is a naso to big for a 125? I've heard alot of hard things about the powder blue. Are there any suggestions for any tangs that would be easier to keep?/ more hardy?
