HELP needed for mounting Halide pendant on SOLANA 34g

Hi all, so I have a 34g solana cube I am trying to set up at work. As you can imagine our office has mostly metal desks, and the pendant that comes with the solana system is supposed to be screwed to the back of the wood stand it comes with. Our desks do have those openings in the back (maybe 1inch by 2inch) for cables etc so I could put the support beam in there, but trying to figure out how to anchor it in place.

Any ideas?

I was thinking of maybe putting a 2x4 under the desktop where the opening in the back is, and maybe stablizing it with legs, then just screwing the pendant support onto the wood.

I am thinking you guys might need pics to figure out what I just blabbed about?
