Vertex IN-100 Info/Help
Hello folks, after a year I ran out of room in my 20g so I upgraded to a 40g tank. I have a Vertex IN-100 in the sump and was wondering what you guys think about this skimmer. What are peoples comments or concerns about it and if there is anything I need to know or do with this thing. Mine sounds a bit loud, but then again, I have never had any type of decent skimmer ever! Please help--- Thanks

"loud" is a little vague. Is it coming form the pump? does it sound like its internal or a vibration? The airline?
I havent owned one, but from what I hear they are a pretty good skimmer, should be plenty for your system. Gives us a little more insight into the sounds that you are hearing and we may be able to help a little more.

Loud as in a vibrating hummm from the pump. it doesn't sound anything like it was airline related like from a venturi line. More like a vibrating mechanical. Hope that helps...

I just purchased and setup this skimmer about 3 weeks ago. This is a great skimmer however the pump leaves much to be desired.
There is a gen 2 impeller that you can get for free which will quiet down the pump immensely and from what I can tell actually improve performance. You should contact the place you bought it from and see if they have any of the Gen 2 impellers available, if not contact Vertex and they will send you one. |
