Moving 150 in this weekend. Rock Question!!

Hey guys I am picking up a 150 gallon aquarium this weekend and it is coming stock with 300+ pounds of live rock. The owner said he had a tang in there about 2-3 weeks ago. He just gave up on the hobby, he told me that he just turned the light off and stopped feeding. I didnt see the fish when I went to check out the tank last weekend. He has had the pumps running so that way the water does not become staggnent. My question is should I setup the tank with rock and use the old water or should I start over with brand new saltwater?

Also I have a 65 gallon setup right now. How would I go about moving everything in its new home? If I use new water I imagine I would have to wait some time. Or could I combine both tanks for about a week to make the water about the same or is that a bad idea?

Thanks for your input.

Josh

I'd test the water in the 150 before thinking about using any of it, but if it's good I'd probably use 25 gallons or so from it plus the water from
your 65 and then finish filling it up with new water.

What a tool to just stop feeding because he got bored of it.
+1 test the water, use 40/50 percent of it, then use RODI mixed salt of filtered natural ocean water for the rest, good luck! im also moving /setting up a 90 this weekend so i feel your pain!
