Yellow Finger Gorgonian

I have a yellow finger gorgonian that has been very slowly declining although it is showing some signs of being somewhat healthy. I noticed it was deteriorating in my hand when I get removing red slime algae from it, which was probably one if the reasons it was deteriorating since the algae was on it for so long. So then I moved it to a tank temporarily to see how it would do in there, but there was no really great flow in that tank. So now I have it back in the original tank.
I think it was also showing signs of decline because I didn't know that I had to directly feed it, which I will begin to do when the polyps are out at night
I don't know if I should place it towards the top of the tank now, where there is much more water current for it, but then it will be receiving a lot of light. If I place it near the bottom where it was before, it will not be getting a lot of water flow. It was doing well near the bottom, it just accumulated the algae on it.
Where should I place it?

I decided to place it in the middle of my tank, in some shade, with my light powerhead directed toward it. As of now, its polyps are coming out, which is a good thing. I will feed it tonight.

Tank Barometer's

IME, Gorgonia's and Goniopora are the barometer's of the tank. When things start going wrong, these two show it. They are very sensitive to slight changes and react. I would check all water parameters, very closely. Look for even slight anomalies. If found, start corrective action.

Spot feeding is a good idea. One way to feed,
2 liter bottle,
Cut off and dispose of bottom
Retain Lid.
Place open end over gorgonia.
Remove lid.
Administer food with baster/syringe.
Replace lid and let food suspension sit for 15-30 minutes
