3 things growing in my tank that I need help to ID
My tank is starting to have all kinds of random life. My fuge has more bugs and random things than I have ever seen!
However, there are 3 things that have me scratching my head wondering if they are going to be problematic or not. Thing #1 Click for fullsize Click for fullsize these little things are starting to show up mostly on the back glass and in the fuge, but they are slowly appearing in shady areas of the rockwork as well. They are white/clear and yeah... what the heck are they? they almost look like little coccoons or mysis shrimp or something Thing #2 Click for fullsize white spots in this area and on one other rock. look like they may be thing #1 "coming soon" thing #3 Click for fullsize Well these obviously just look like zoa polyps. However, I didnt put them there and they are clear/white with a sparkle of almost glitter looking stuff. Since there was a time when I once saw aiptasia and thought "oh cool, coral!" i want to know if these are something evil that just looks decent. maybe related to thing #2 also? Any help would be appreciated |

+1 to those and also I believe #2 is some kind of worm. "Spiro" something... They spread quick in a new setup then die off as thing balance out but leave those little white things behind. They are harmless. I have all three in my tank. Palys spread quick but that's your only possible issue.

The little cypha sponges mean that your tank is maturing. Harmless little filter feeders. Make sure that the palys are someplace that you don't mind a lot of them as they will overgrow sessile corals. One of my main rocks is overrun with them. Also, if you pluck them off, make sure you wear gloves and eye protection as they contain deadly toxins (ie. palytoxin). |

I dunno guys heres a majano anemone picture.......
http://www.esanaquatics.com/Majano_A...num=1&ct=image ANOTHER link http://www.livingreefs.com/attachmen...ne-anemone.jpg ONE MORE: http://www.livingreefs.com/attachmen...nome%26hl%3Den I'm not sure I would call that a Paly and not something bad (relative). The major visual differences are not always obvious, the overall coloration and the shape and size of the tenticles can vary. Majanos tend to have some green coloration in addition to brown, although not always. Their color partly depends on your lighting. Aiptasia is either light or darker brown. Majano tenticles tend to be shorter and the tips are more rounded. I personally think they are majanos..... JMO Best of luck |

cool i guess i wont worry about it now. I dont think they are majanos based on looking at them compared to pics. They look a litttle different in person than in my pics.. but Ill keep and eye on it just in case.
will aiptasia killing stuff like joes juice/aiptasia x kill majanos and palys too? if so i might go ahead and just nuke them before they spread |

Aiptasia X will put a dent in majanos, but it may take several applications to finally kill them. It won't harm palys. Your best bet is tweezers and grip them as close to the base as possible. Wear gloves and eye protection just to be safe. If you want to see majanos, come look at my reef. It is my never ending battle.

Considering it is one uniform "row" of tentacles I honestly don't think it is any type of anemone.
That is a majano that was in my tank..as you can see random tentacles..^^^^^^ a paly I have..even all around..hth

I can guarantee you they are paly's. I would put money on that. And imo dont kill them....for what its worth I see them sold in LFS's all the time. Granted most of the ones being sold are more colored up but still.

well i have 2 big frag racks full of random bright (some rare and expensive) zoas so id rather kill them then have them spread all over the tank and risk taking over better ones. I dont really like the look of these much |
