Red face Rimless cage

So then...

After learning and experimenting. I have come to the conclusion that building my own tank is not an option. I have no tools, time, or the skill. I did more research and have have found a place that seems cheap enough to buy a rimless tank:

http://www.glasscages.com/?sAction=ViewCat&lCatID=46

Anyone had done business with them or knows of their work quality? I am thinking on going with their 80 Cube (Rimless).

Thank you for your thoughts.

People are going to tell you to stay away from them, that they are bad news. However I have seen a few of their tanks, one that is 450gallons and they are all doing fine. Doont ask them to drill any holes, as they wont be where you want them. AS long as you stick with their stock sizes without making custom changes, other than say starphire, you should be fine. Remember when doing a rimless tank, that the stand is even more crucial, so make sure it is perfectly straight and level and you put down a piece of foam.

I had a great experience with them... Mine is still holding water after two years

There are definitely some horror stories with glass cages, but there are some great stories as well. I have a low-iron from pane 190 and have no complaints.

cheap prices thick glass. However, when using silicone on the tank I ordered from them they didn't take off the excess that was seaming out of the glass. So far mine is holding but only been a few months. The tank that I ordered was put together properly everything seems fine so far. I would follow their instructions though and don't water test it till they say so. Meaning... a lot of patience to test out a new tank.

The piece of foam is to eliminate pressure points that could crack the glass. This doesnt matter on rimmed tanks as they sit on the rim, however on a rimless it will be resting directly on glass and any high spot in the stand could crack it. I believe they use the hard pink insulation board. But I would post that question in the discussion forum or equipment forum for more answers.
