What is cheato?
For what i know, its this green grass thing that looks like the pokemon tangla. Well, i know that its used to take down nitrates, but i was wondering a couple of things. I have a 14 gallon biocube, could i put it in the middle back chamber? Isn't it bad having something like this as detris can get stuck in it?Would it be getting enough light and water back there? Can i get some opinions, and if you guys know of any pictures.

i personally wouldnt put it in the back of one of those, but im pretty sure people do it. i describe chaeto as a marine tumble weed. it should have high flow and should always be floating so it should also be roling around a little bit so all sides get light. chaeto usually hosts tons of micro "bugs" like copepods. i find worms, pods, and tons of feather duster worms in my chaeto. the "bugs" probably eat the detritus that could get stuck in it.

it grows and takes up phosphates to do so. It can work like a mechanical filter and pick up a lot of detritus. I rinse mine and harvest regularly
