New Set Up...36gal cave.. PICS
Finally got the rest of the Live Rock in today, kicked the powerheads and filters on, and can finally get some pictures up. first some quick specs.
36 gallon corner aquarium. soon to be the clown breeding tank. about 35lbs of LR and 20lbs of base rock 40lbs agronite sand 130W compact Flourescent (full spec. and actinic) skimmer, filters, powerheads, etc. the only inhabitants currently are hitch hikers. one lone turbo snail and about 50 dwarf feather dusters (already attached to the LR) I went for a little less typical aquascape when setting it up. i've always liked the Pillars, and ledges, or the big valleys. but with the corner tank i had a new vision, one of my favorite things in a tank are the little caves created when stacking rocks. i enjoy the cave environment so much i decided to build a giant cave. the main arch is all one piece attached to PVC and then it was just strategic placment of the LR to create the "36 gallon Cave". (or at least thats what im calling this tank) the second pic is with the actinics off just to show colors of rocks. |

Looks nice. Are you planning on placing anything on the sand in the cave?

Cool scaping. It's going to look really neat with fish in there.

Very nice! I like the fact that it looks like detritus will have a hard time settling around your rocks.

there are a few small rubble sized pieces of LR inside the cave just to seed it (since it doesn't get much light). i could never stand a messy sand bed and thought this would be a good way to keep it clean. there are a few small holes in the top of the cave as well as the back, so the front is not the only access point, actually i have the outflow for my filter in the back of the cave so it gets pretty good cirrculation through there. hoping once i put some mushrooms, softies, and polyps in there they take over the rockwork and it ends up looking like a natural little outcrop. only time will tell. now the fun part......waiting for it to cycle
