Smile Live Dry Rock!

Can anybody help me out? I have a bunch of good pieces of dry live rock that has been sitting outside for about 8 months but used to be live. I got a 30 gal tank and want these rocks to be live again. How can this happen and what is the right way to cycle a new tank?

Check out this thread that I just started yesterday!

Great ideas and a good place to start.

If the tank is already running, you can cure the rock in a rubbermaid with saltwater and a powerhead, if the tank isnt running, just put the rock in the tank with salt water, and get a chunk of live rock from a friend or store and seed the tank with that. You dont really need any light for this, but a short photo period of a few hours a day wont hurt, and then just be patient. It could take a couple of months for it to be fully cured, but it should be a little less than that.

i have used dead live rock twice now and all i do is to scrub it very well before starting to cycle it. then seed it with live rock. it will come back and can be well worth the effort
