Question Am I forgetting anything? RK Elite order...

Take a look at this list and tell me if I 'm forgetting anything that will keep this thing from working. I'm getting this to monitor my 125. I'll add night lighting later so I'm not worried about pods and modules for now. Wife's probably going to kill me anyway so that may not be an issue.

Looking at the kit contents I believe that all cables that I need come with the units. Let me know if I'm overlooking anything. Also, if you know of a site that beats MSRP on this stuff I'd like to hear about it. It seems that everyone has kind of fallen in line there.

Thanks,
Mike

RK Elite Head Unit
RKM-SL2 System Lab Module w/temp, pH, and salinity inputs
RKM-PC4 Power Distribution Module (X2)
RKM-NET Network Interface
DA Salinity Probe
Pinpoint pH Probe
DA Temp Probe

Nice buy. I am planning on getting a reef keeper or a Neptune. Where did you purchase?

I'm going to run from the RKM-NET module to an unused game adapter that I have. That will get it to the router upstairs and from there I'm good.

I haven't hit the purchase button yet but I'm getting it straight from Digital Aquatics. I've been shopping around a little bit but it seems that most sites have everything listed at MSRP. Plus, I want the SL2 instead of the SL1 so I can monitor temp, pH, and salinity and most sites offer their kits with the SL1. I do with that DA would offer free shipping on this stuff. Every other site I visited does for orders over $175.

I just bought the RKL,SL2,extra rk4,PH probe and some float switches.

Need any float switches? A bit $ but I got it to control everything, might as well do that 45 bucks isn't that much more, and I can sell my ATO.

I will eventually put the ATO on the system with some switches but for now I'm trying to minimize the cost. Like I said earlier, this one isn't exactly wife approved. I'm thinking this could be one, maybe two nights on the couch.

No need for switches. Get a small cheap pump and good ball valve. Just figure out how much water you lose, how much the pump does and program it into the controller. Its much safer than a float valve and easier.

Just like a dosing pump. Figure out how much water you need, how many gallons the pump does an hour. Do some simple math to how long the pump needs on and you set it just like the lights. Mine is on for a half hour twice a day. That way if the water level changes the amount of topoff doesn't.

I think the RKE comes with a temp probe, no need to buy an extra one.

What about large swings in ambient humidity? Won't that mess it up?

Just submitted my order. I ended up getting the RKE w/NET package and added an SL2 and salinity probe. The package comes with an SL1 that I don't need but comes with two of the three probes that I do need and was about $40 cheaper than piecing together each part individually. I figure I can sell the SL1 to offset the cost even more and maybe avoid the couch altogether.

New reef toys on the way!!!

ATO's with a backup switch is much safer than guessing how much your tank evaps. I've had my ATO for 2 years now with not one problem. I clean it just like i clean everything every 3 months, vinigar bath.

You might want to keep the SL1 just in cast you want to monitor PH in 2 different places. ie. Calcium Reactor and display PH.

Ambient changes usually happen over a while. I watch my sump water level and I can tell when something is changing and I adjust my controller. I check SG when I do water changes and I can keep up on everything.
