ACK! Tank Help Needed!!

A starfish was stuck in the inflow (my word for it) so we turned it off. When we turned it back on the overflow tank in the back started to overflow. We unplugged the pump (when this is on we start to overflow) but left the current going. I'm not sure what's wrong with it & I was wonderinf if anyone had any ideas on what the issue might be & possibly how to fix it? We're starting to lose fish...

What kind of an overflow is it? Sounds like you lost the siphon.

I'm not sure what kind of sump we have. Our expert set it up. The back of it has a sticker that says "CPR VU". I took the hermit crab that was stuck in one of the pumps out which is helping w/tank current but we still have one that isn't pumping...that's the one that overflows the overflow.

Thank you for the help!

Does your overflow have U-tubes? Do they have water in them? Sounds like they may need to be primed.

I'm not sure what qualifies as a u-tube. We have 2 small pumps on iether side of the tank that feed into the biotank/overflow (sump?).

Excuse the pix...I took them with my phone. :S

Problem solved...apparently our alge is a little too happy in the biotank & clogged up the pumps. I've changed the water since there were 3 deaths in the tank. Hopefully, everyone else will be as happy as the alge. =)
