120 gallon on 3rd floor?
Hey everyone, I live in a new apartment complex building. I live on the 3rd floor and currently have a 58 gallon with 30 gallon sump underneath. Do you guys think the apartment would be able to handle a 120 with a 40 gallon sump underneath? It will be on the exterior wall and near a corner. Thanks everyone. -Mike

2 words.....renters insurance
when i was on the 2nd floor, my apt complex killed my tank build (when i was almost done ) because it exceeded "maximum gallonage allowed by the lease". lease says no more than a 55g tank....i was doing a 50 w/ 29g sump. they told me i could have a tank that exceeded the gallonage clause only if i had renters insurance & signed a waiver accepting any damages the tank might incur to the floor or apt below. all the renters insurance companies i talked to wouldn't cover me if i signed such a waiver as to whether the floor would support it or not....guess that depends on how the floor is built, but i don't think i'd risk it. that is after all probably 2000lbs or so by the time you account for the tank, rock, sand, water, equipment, etc
