Help! Red Slime all over Rocks!!!!!

I've been dealing with red slime on my rocks for the past three weeks and cannot get rid of it. I scraped off what I could a week ago and used Ultra Slime Remover but it is starting to grow back. My sand is great no slime there but only on the rocks.

Any suggestions??????

Could be flow or temp swings or other things. How long has the tank been set up? Have you had this before?

Check to see if it's cyanobacteria on the rocks. I had a red slime that grew on my rocks that became sort of spongy after a while. It sort of looks likes red slime but you can't remove it from the rocks. I ended up starting over with all new rocks because I couldn't get rid of it.

If it is cyanobacteria, using Slime Remover will only slow it down. You need to change the parameters of your water. I've found that reducing feeding, increasing flow, and turning your lights off for 2 to 3 days really does the trick. Especially turning the lights off for 2 or 3 days. That works wonders and it doesn't really affect your corals to leave the lights off for that length of time. Also, don't feed your fish for a day or 2 during the light off period. HTH.

I had a battle with red slime a few weeks back. I couldn't get rid of it for a while. What I ended up doing was a big water change, used red slime remover, and did another big water change a ferw days after. Red slime is gone and hasn't come back since.

Since I've added more Chaeto and running carbon with GFO no more battles.

Increase your water changes. When doing the water change, siphon what you can off the rocks. Then use a turkey baster or small power head to blow the crud out of the rocks.
It is strictly from a build up of excess nutrients. The easiest way to fix it for good, is to increase your maintenance. More flow my help a little.
