how do you clean your filter socks

Just like the thread title states, what technique do you all use to clean your filter socks?

Has anyone found a source for very dense material for DIY socks?

Turn inside out, and toss in the wash machine. I don't use any soap, and they come out clean enough.

No, but maybe I should.

You can buy the material at walmart, or any fabric shop.

I thought about bleaching but wasn't sure if it would eliminate the pollutants. What does the bleach water eventually look like?

Its initaly milky after i rince through.I just keep rincing in the same bucket 20-30x until the water is clear,& i lo longer smell bleach.Ive been doing it this way for 7yrs.

Becides the 3 day soak the whole cleaning process takes 10min tops.

Turn inside out, shake and retrieve the pods, and rinse. Throw in the washer on a hot cycle with bleach. Run through a second cycle water only. Air dry and reuse.

Turn inside-out and throw in washer without soap or anything. Just water. Once cycle is complete, I return the sock(s) to their respective locations.

I turn them inside out and throw them in the washer with a dash of bleach and an extra rinse cycle. I let them air dry before using them.

I don't even turn mine inside out! I throw them in the washer (preferably when my wife isn't home) using hot water and my heavy cycle. Take them out and let them air dry. I then run the washer through a rinse cycle to make sure the wife doesn't notice any dirt :-)

I turn mine inside out, collect all the pods and put them in my fuge. I then blast it clean with a power nozzle on the garden hose to get all the detritus out of the fibers. Once that is done, I soak it in water & bleach for a few hours. When done, I rinse it out real good and hang it up to dry for several days to allow the bleach to dissipate. Just before putting it back in, I rinse it one more time with R/O to be sure. Yeah, it is probably excessive, but the wife said not only no, but H*** NO to me putting them in the washing machine!
