Pulsing Xenia ?? Pics
So i bought 2 pulsing xenias.. a week apart, from different stores.. the first one (on yellow rock) hasn't done anything and has not even opened bigger?
The second picture is the other.. and seems to be doing great.. 1st: high in tank (4x10k T5HO) 2nd: midway down.. Thoughts ? RLB |

Xenia doesn't like a ton of light. Maybe try moving the one that is closed down a bit.

As prolific as they are my xenia can be a little picky with the light and current they get. Mine actually like a good amount of current before they open up and I have them in the middle are of the tank. Even my kenya tree made me move it a couple times before it opened up

For the kenya the issue for me was more the current. I just moved it further from the koralia and it opened up. I do have it higher in the tank than the xenia though

My xenia is thriving and is at the very top of my tank under 6x T5 bulbs. It is directly next to and growing on a Korilia 3 (which is a BAD thing btw, it gets sucked into the pump and then sliced and diced. The parts eventually land somewhere and then start growing)
I'll warn you that I was told (and it seems to be true in my tank) that xenia grows up towards the light, hence you should start it out higher. |

I don't know, I used to have my xenia on the sand in my tank and it loved it, but I also had a vortech mp40 and maybe it was enjoying the flow.

Have you considered that it might be iodine deficient?
Pulsating Xenias when given a tiny bit of iodine pulsating like a fourth of july fireworks display. It might just need a nutrient boost from being in a poor environment from where you bought it. |

do you dose w/ iodine? iodine helps the xenia flush out the waste it takes in better.
