Look into the MSX/ SWC line of skimmers( 200 or 250) . You will not be dissapointed

the msx 200 would do fine on a moderately stocked 120 gal. I use the MSX 250 on my system of a 65 gall, 120 gall. and a 45 gallon sump all in one system.

I have a euroree rs 100 that is modded into recirculating I just bought.
I bought it before I saw it and the guy said it was a rs 135. Just not as strong as my etss 600. But givin the euroreef reputation I just kept it. anyways I can sell it if your interested,it's in imaculate condition. I can send you a picture if interested. |

I have 2 friends that are using ATB cone skimmer and they highly recommend it. I am also upgrading to a 120 and they are really persuading me to get one. They have used Bubble king, Deltec, ASM, and they say nothing compares.

I run the MSX 200 with the Sicce in large pinwheel on my 120. Love it. Pulls plenty of foul nog from the tank with 6 fish and SPS Dominated. Very reasonably priced especially if you can find used.

I bought the MSX 200 for my 120 gal with a 75 gal sump and 45 gal frag system. Still plumbing everything, but I did a good deal of research and for the money, this skimmer seemed to have the best reviews. I debated spending more and waiting for the new Octo cone skimmers, but just could not see spending another $110 or about 40% more.

I have a 120 and I got the octo xtreme 250, basically the same as msx line. I have to say that the 250 is GIGANTIC!! It is way overkill for my tank and I have it stocked very heavy, its SPS dominant tank with the following, 1 sailfin tang, 1 purple tang, pair of yellow watchmen gobies, 4 kupang damsels, 2 black/white oscellaris clowns, 2 skunk clowns, 1 solarensis wrasse, 1 yellow coris wrasse, 1 mystery wrasse, 1 orchid dottyback. I plan on getting some anthias and so will add even more bioload to the tank lol. The skimmer will go nuts for awhile then kind of sit idle till the next day with feeding, I have to clean it out almost every 2 days or so and I get tons and tons of junk in the neck but hardly any in the cup. I would rather have consistent skimmate production so with a 120 I would go with a 200 msx/octo.

I also have to say that I have zero algae problems. And I have not scraped my tank due to film algae in like a month or longer, cant remember the last time I did it, the only algae that grows is coralline and it is starting to cover the front/sides of the tank pretty good so I have a huge job to do soon. :/ I also us phosgard/carbon so it could be a combo of both the chemical media and the skimmer that has kicked the crap out of the algae that used to grow in my tank.

The msx200 is the poster child performance skimmer on a budget for a 120g. It should work even better with the new sicce intake. Buy it from Marinesolutionsinc.com they sell direct so you wont find it cheaper.
