Question lph skimmers: How is it measured?

I often see the lph of air specs reported for different skimmers and I was wondering how exactly is this measured? Some people have reported attaining a ridiculously high lph from some skimmers and I was wondering if this is perhaps due to the way they are measuring or estimating it. Thanks in advance for you input.

Here is a chart from Dweyer that list the different meters and what units of measure they use.
I have a RMA-22 and it measures in LPM, I just multiply X 60 to get LPH.

I see. But how do you setup the skimmer or pump to actually get the air to run through those meters?

Oh yeah! Haha I don't know why I didn't think of that. So is there a published list of the air lph of different skimmers/pumps?

Not that I know of. If there were, I wouldn't believe half of it anyway.

I generally don't put much faith in manufacturer claims and honestly it seems there are so many different methods or little tweaks to sway results one way or another I don't put much stock in private findings either.

Hmm yeah the reported values do seem to differ depending on the source. What do you think is a good way of gauging a skimmer?

I don't know of a truly reliable way. I just keep track of the various skimmer clubs and see what appears to be the most widely accepted offering. Gather as much information on what may be best option and then ask specifics as to how well it will suit my individual system.
