First bacteria outbreak
Ok so i set up my 55 gallon the other week and i have my first outbreak its a brown coating on my rock and some spots on my sand bed would a clean up crew take care of it because its mostly on my rock are there any snails that eat this stuff thanks i have some hermits and a few nassiraus snails

Sounds like a diatom bloom, pretty normal for a new tank. It will generally subside on it's own but siphoning them out helps as well. They need silicates so if sponges get established they will generally outcompete the diatoms for silica. If you remove it manually that is also removing silicates from the system.

Thanks. Another question is will using distilled water help in the future for red slime outbreaks dont have an ro system ? And will having cheato im my sump also help with red slime ? I hear it takes a few weeks for the macro to start to feed off the same food as the slime

Chaeto will help to eat up nutrients before cyano and reduce it. Chaeto can generally outcompete cyano but cyano adapts to changes faster. SOmetimes after a light change or a big harvesting cyano may briefly rebound.
