fluval fx5

I was looking to get some feedback on the fx5 filter. I want to run one on my 125 and was wondering if I could run a uv inline on this and what diameter the lines are.
Thanks

I wouldn't run a UV filter in line unless the UV unit has a 600+ gph flow rate. I run the FX5 with only GAC and GFO. no sponges and no other media. your main bio filtration will be your live rock and substrate, your main mechanical filtration should be your skimmer.

P.S. I replaced the ribbed tubing with 1" clear tubing on both the input and output.

Ya that's how I was planning on setting it up, I will definatly switch out the hoses. How do you like that filter on your reef tank?

The FX5 is ok. There are times that it will dump lots of mirco bubbles in the tank. You should clean it out every 2 weeks or so and clean the impeller / motor every month. When I upgrade to a bigger tank. I'll most likely ditch the filter for a nice sized sump.
