to bolt down or not

i'm running 2 pumps off my glass sump. i'm concerned if i bolt the pumps down vibrations will be transferred to the sump. i will be adding styrofaom under the sump and vibration pads under the pumps. i have seen many pumps not bolted down and other that are, so i'm at a loss. pic included so you get the idea.

i cant see the pic but if you are running a rimmed tank i would not put the foam under the tank i would us mouse pads under your pumps and that should help with the viberations then you should be able to bolt them down.

what if you took the mouse pad idea but put them under your pumps than bolt them down. just cut some bolt size holes in the mouse pads.

no if you put foam under a rimmed tank the tank will settle down and then it will put unwanted pressure on your bottom pain of glass were it is not designed to take pressure and it will cause the bottom pain of glass to crack or even shatter.just a heads up. i put foam under my 240g starfire tank and then found this out on RC thank god i would have been mad if my tank broke but i got lucky because it is a custom tank and the bottom pain of my tank is completly flat and not rasied so it is fine.

if you can figure a way to use a short piece of vinyl tubing between the pumps and sump, that will go a long way to reduce vibration. You should also consider a short section on the return side. The mouse pad under the pumps will help as well, but i would not bolt them down - that can only help to transfer vibration to the sump/stand
