Lighting on 90gal
The tank is 48" x 18" x 24"
I have narrowed it down to these two fixtures The tank is going to be sps with lps in the sand 48" Constellation 7 Lamp T5 HO Fixture 48" Current USA Outer Orbit 2x250W 2 phoenix 14k I like this fixture but any othe 2 x 250watt MH suggestions are helpful I love the setup of this tank http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...&pagenumber=25 but his tank is only 20in tall and dont know if, the constellation will be enough for 24in, it will be mounted as close to the tanks as possible which one is better for my setup? The Constellation would work fine. Another option is the ATI Sunpower 6x54 watt, it is more than enough for a 90g, and its about $225 cheaper than the Constellation.
http://www.reefgeek.com/lighting/T5_...!_Bulbs_by_ATI I prefer halides over T5s for their appearance, but I don't really like any of the fixtures out ther. If you were to go halides, i would suggest a canopy with high end reflectors. Probably cost you similar to a T5 fixture.

I was actually thinking the same thing because I have heard that the reflectors in most fixtures are not so great but, I dont think the sunpower 6 bulb will have enough light, and do you think the extra bulb on the constellation 7 bulb puts out more light then the sunpower,
If only they made a 8bulb sunpower then I'd be happy |

Output is probably comparable between the 2, but GrimReefer would know that answer better than I. The 6x54 will be able to keep anything in a 90- SPS and clams to the sandbed. I was using the 8x54 on my 120g and it was plenty of light.

I'm using a 6 bulb Powermodule over my 90 and it it is plenty of light. Be carefull with LPS, mine are on the sand and I almost bleached a few Acans and did fry some Caulastrea. |

I have 6 x 54watt retro on my 90 and can keep clams on the sandbed no problem. It's nice to have the extra bulb in the constellation, IMO I don't think it's needed. If you go T5, just make sure you get good reflectors and bulbs.

I'm leaning more towards the sunpower but, does anyone on RC own a constellation, if so how do you like it and are the fans loud?
