Unhappy New Light Not Working, Anyone had this happen?

A few weeks ago I bought a 48" Nova Extreme Pro light fixture. I received the fixture in good condition but in a separate package all of the bulbs were broken. I called in that day and reported this issue and it was dealt with very quickly, a few days later I had replacement bulbs and thought I would be back in business.

After installing the bulbs and the fixture, everything seemed ok for about 2 days. Then the set of lights that is two bulbs stopped working. I checked the bulbs by moving them around in the fixture and all seemed to be operating fine. So I once again called the store where i purchased it and was quickly shipped a new ballast. When I received the replacement ballast I carefully identified which of the three ballasts controlled the two lights in question, cut it out one wire at a time so as not to confuse any of them and reassembled the light. Once re-assembled I turned it on for a test, the two lamps came on but were flickering and after about 30 seconds they stopped working again.

I again reported the issue to the store. They were very nice and we both decided that the best course of action was to replace the entire fixture. they shipped me another one. Once i turned it on it worked fine for about 30 seconds and then the same set of lights in went out.

At this point i was feeling pretty stupid so I went ahead and shipped the old one back. I deciede to invest in a couple of new light bulbs to see if i had sometihng wrong there. But today i came home and installed them and still nothing.

I can't figure this out, i have taken the fixture off of the timers, moved it to other outlets, moved all of the bulbs around and still nothing. Has nyone ever expereinced a problem like this? Any advise on what i should do from here?

Sounds to me like you happened to get a couple of bad fixtures. Sometimes is happens, maybe they had a new guy on the assembly line. If you checked with power from different outlets and are still getting the same problem it's not your supply.... has to be something in the fixture(s). Maybe a bad or loose tombstone on the set of lights that is going out? Not sure.

Evil spirits, light not aligned with magnetic north, bad Karma etc.

Maybe check your wall voltage to see if there is a problem. The damage might have been done before you switched to a different plug.

I thought that too Grim, but he says it happens with both the old fixture and the new one and happens on different outlets.

Yeah but if he plugged both into that same outlet first and say the polarity is reversed it could be popping the ballasts.

If they were plugged into a common cord yes.

If you have had that many problems with the Nova I'd switch to the Tek but it's your call really. The Tek seems to be a nice fixture also.
