Need lighting help for a cube.
i have a cube that is 30 inches by 30 inches and 25 inches deep. I do not want to be limited in what i keep, but would ideally like to avoid metal halide, and go with a T5 setup.
I also hope to find something with feet to sit on top of the tank. I have looked around and cannot find anything that would work. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks. |

30 inches is a difficult size. I long time ago I had a 29g which was 30 inches and I ended up going with a retrofit unit from hellolights.com.
Take a look at these. 30", T5, fixture w/ legs. http://www.catalinaaquarium.com/index.php?cPath=71_136 I can't speak for the quality of these units. I have no direct experience. However, they do seem to be popular amongst freshwater planted tank keepers. |

Dimensions and pics of your stand? Or do you have yet? Will it be an open top tank? Got pics of the tank?

I agree, the toughest part is the 30" issue.
If you dont want to limit what you can keep, I would still go with a metal halide setup - either a hang on light such as the Coralife Tank mount light or a suspending halide unit. Otherwise, you could use a 2 x 65 watt Aqualite from Coralife. That is 30" and you can buy it from hello lights. http://www.hellolights.com/index.asp...ROD&ProdID=484 |
