Need lighting help for a cube.

i have a cube that is 30 inches by 30 inches and 25 inches deep. I do not want to be limited in what i keep, but would ideally like to avoid metal halide, and go with a T5 setup.

I also hope to find something with feet to sit on top of the tank. I have looked around and cannot find anything that would work. Does anyone have any suggestions??

Thanks.

30 inches is a difficult size. I long time ago I had a 29g which was 30 inches and I ended up going with a retrofit unit from hellolights.com.

Take a look at these. 30", T5, fixture w/ legs.

I can't speak for the quality of these units. I have no direct experience. However, they do seem to be popular amongst freshwater planted tank keepers.

Dimensions and pics of your stand? Or do you have yet? Will it be an open top tank? Got pics of the tank?

I agree, the toughest part is the 30" issue.

If you dont want to limit what you can keep, I would still go with a metal halide setup - either a hang on light such as the Coralife Tank mount light or a suspending halide unit.

Otherwise, you could use a 2 x 65 watt Aqualite from Coralife. That is 30" and you can buy it from hello lights.
