my fish won't touch nori

I have nori that i bought at the LFS. as least i think it is nori. Its comes in the same type of sheets as everyone desribes. the package does not say nori on it though, just that is it dried seaweed. It even has garlic added to it for the nutritional benefit. I out it in a clip in the tank and i never see the fish pick at it much at all much less mow down on it. The snails seem to get it instead of the fish. I thought tangs were supposed to love the stuff but none of mine eat it at all.

Any advice or anyone with similar issuses?

What fish do you have?

Some of my fish were slow to realize that the green stuff clipped to the side of the tank was food. My kole tang in particular took probably 6 months to eat from the clip but now he's the first one in there. You can try attaching it to a piece of rock rubble and letting it settle on the bottom of the tank - an elastic band works well for this. It's usually just a matter of them figuring out it's food.

I tear mine in to flake sized bits and feed it with the flake food. Thats the only way any of mine take any interest in it.

I have the excact same stuff i think...does it say "added garlic" on a yellow sticker on the front? Either way it took my yellow tang a little while to notice it...but once he did WOW. It's like crack..as soon as he see's me grab the package he starts doing laps around the tank. He doesn't graze as much any more.

It only took a couple minutes for my yellow tang to realize the green stuff in the clip was food.

First off, the cobra in your avatar.......NIICCEE!

Alright, try putting the nori close to their favorite spot to hang out in the tank. Instead of say on the front glass, place it low on the side. Sometimes, they are shy and afraid of it. I had a purple tang do the same, as soon as I moved it lower to the shadow areas, he ventured toward it and realized what it was.

What I do in the beginning is fold the sheet into like a stick, this eliminates it from waving around that I find to scare the fish. Now, I stick it in between my magnet cleaners and drag it to the lower part of my tank. Works everytime, fast too.

i try to let it just fall into the rock work, if i put it on the glass the snails seem to get it and eat it all.

i rolled it into a stick too because thats supposed to keep it from dissolving so fast.

My tangs was afraid to come close to the clip so I placed the Nori on the rock with another rock on top so it won't float away. After a couple of days, I was able to use the clip again.

We could start a whole new conversation about that!!

Keep trying with the nori, they'll figure it out once they get a taste.

I just put the nori in the tank and rub it between my fingers to break it up. Just about everything in my tank will eat it when it is floating around. My Sixline Wrasse, both my clowns, lyertail anthiases, Scoaps Tang, Purple Firefish, Yellow Watchman Goby. The only fish I have that doesn't really care for it much is a bangaii cardnial, but he still will take a bite or two.
