Planning a Closed Loop and Calfo Overflow
I am getting ready to move my Oceanic 180 gallon and want to take the time to plan out a closed loop and install a Calfo overflow using Beans silent method.
I have no experience with either of these systems and would like some feedback on pump sizes, bulkhead sizes, and overflow designs. Any help or guidance would much appreciated. Thanks!! |

Best advice I can give is to use unions wherever possible. They're worth their weight in gold when you need to remove something later, so go ahead and spend the money now. Personally, I also prefer threaded connections over slip connections that require glue-up. If you want to change something later, it's much simpler to unscrew a part and replace it with something else than having to cut out the unwanted part. Yes, leaks are a greater risk with threads, but that's where teflon tape and silicone come in.
My two cents' worth. Good luck! |

Thanks. I am looking for any advise at this point. I am thinking of a Reeflo Snapper for my return and possibly a dart for the CL. Are there any other alternatives to the OM 4 or 8 way's?
