How many gals to do water change on 220gal
I just set up a 220gal and want to know how many gals I need to remove for a water change. Looking to do water changes every 2-3 weeks.

I do the WC on my 210 around that same interval and I change 32 gals at a time. Tanks been up for 3 years now and after nearly a year of neglect I'm having some cyano and nitrate issues so I would assume this would be a good safe amount if you stick with the routine.

Most of the year (there are times it takes a back seat to other things) I change 30gal a week on my 220gal system. It works out well since thats the size of my brute can.

I change out 25 gallons on my 120 every week. I used to be able to get away with one change per month, but as the fish count went up, so did the amount and frequency of my water changes. Its all relative to your stocking and your nutrient import.

I'm a big fan of smaller changes more frequently so I would think that 10-15gal per week would work. More is usually better.
Personally, I change 45g per week on my 500g system.
