Sedra Pump

I'll admit, I neglected cleaning my pump and needle wheel. My problem is the deposits on the wheel i believe are impeding the amount of bubble its producing. I did clean the venture, so that good. I even after pulling the pump apart had problems getting the pump restarted. Any suggestions? This is for my RS80 skimmer by the way.

Soak parts in a dilute HCl solution. You can buy this as muriatic acid for swimming pools at some hardware stores. I'd dilute it 10:1. Soak all parts overnight, then try again.

Make sure that the white ceramic "stick" that the impeller uses is not frozen on. It should be able to be removed from the impeller. If it is stuck due to calcium deposits, try again after the o/n soak.

Be sure all parts are smooth (no deposits) before putting back together.

The professor watched the overflowing cup until he could no longer restrain himself. “It’s overfull! No more will go in!” the professor blurted. “You are like this cup,” the master replied, “How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup.”

Current Tank Info: 56g, 20g.

How did you clean the venturi? I found that it was helpful to do this bi-weekly by sticking a paperclip in to dislodge any deposits.

I did clean it the best I could. It was free, bit I guess not free enough. I'll have to search our local chain stores to see if anyone carries acid.

If the best you could means all parts were 100% smooth, then it's another problem. If the best you could means there was still some roughness, then it's not good enough.
