I want to get my CUC on Wednesday and so far my idea is to get: 10 blue legged hermits 5 red legged hermits 20 turbo snails 5 cerinth snails is that enough?

I'd double both types of hermits. And triple the cerith(they're about the size of a pencil erasor) Then add something that is going to be a big sand-sifter. Maybe 1 or 2 cucumbers.

If you want to keep the snails alive I wouldn't add the hermits. And the turbo snails have a tendency to knock things over. I would suggest ceriths, nassarius and astrea’s. The astrea's and ceriths keep the class and rock work clean and the nassarius borrow in the sand and keep it clean. And I would also suggest an emerald crab as well.

I'd try something like 6-7 cerith and 6-7 Turbo snails, and add more as needed. Are you getting the snails locally?

I'm going to get the snails at my local~(ish) fish shop.
I have one snail (a turbo I think) in there right now from my old tank and he has already done a stellar job on one bit of rock..... So, I guess I'll get a finer mix of snails then. thanks for the feedback.

Turbos are the most valuable part of my CUC! Although 20 may be a little much, mine are pretty large. Maybe start with 5 or 6. Otherwise I like using hermits in combination with them because the hermits can't kill them like they do other snails.

Are emerald crabs reef safe?

Emerald crabs often are reef safe. They have been known to eat fish and cause other mayhem, but it seems most of them don't do such things.
