Coral Beauty Dwarf

I think my Beauty is starting to nip at my star polyp coral. WHY? I guess it was this fish as the only other fish I have are 2 clowns, and a Watchman Goby. The Beauty has been nipping at algea and I thought that it was just cleaning the coral. However there seems to be some of the stems of the coral, part the polyp retracts into, missing. Is this possible? I have put an algea sheet in the tank for the Beauty but it doesnt seem to want to try it. Maybe in time?

Do you use anything else for your Beauty?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

You should search the forum for the Angelfish project which has an excel spreadsheet on the experiences of various angels, including the Coral Beauty.

My experience is that the dwarf angels will nip at anything they please at anytime they decide to do it. They are very unpredictable in that way.

I've heard they can be well behaved for years and then develop an expensive taste one day. Once they start I think they normally keep it up.

Coral beauties are notorius for nipping at corals. So are flame angels. Not all, but most will nip. Ive had both fish in my tank( not at the same time) and they both nipped at corals.

What kind of algae do you feed?
