of introducing ich or any other parasite to your tank via live clams or oysters from the seafood market?

Any ways to guarentee this can never happen???

I read somewhere that it is a good idea to lightly cook seafood before making fishfood for that very reason. They claimed that it did not harm the nutritional value, if I remember correctly.

I want to say that I read it in Jay Hemdal's book, Advanced Marine Aquarium Techniques-I could be wrong.

I would think ICH would be dead from being out of water and on ice. Im sure if you were real worried you could get some water boiling and blanch everything for 10 to 15 seconds. That would be long enough to kill anything yet not cook the food

I wonder if freezing them will kill all the Parasites? Any ideas on that?

It was in The Marine Fish Heath Feeding Handbook by Goemans and Ichinotsubo.

They don't cite any references. That would make for an interesting study.

I've always been concerned about that too. Some parasites use mollusks as an intermediate host before moving on to another host such as a fish.
