Mag-float?

I want to get a magnetic glass cleaner for my tank...it's a 72 bow front and the glass is 1/4 inch thick.

Now I know that they recommend a size per glass thickness and the bigger ones are a stronger magnetic hold. For that reason I want to know if anybody uses a level above the recommendation because of the stronger hold which would probably mean better cleaning power.

Thanks all.

I think on a 72 you would be good with the medium or large magfloat. I would go for the large just because you get a bigger cleaning area.

I use a smaller one on my 72 bow so it holds just fine. But justshoe is right, bigger means more surface area.

Thanks for the input people.

I got a "piranha float" magnet cleaner and an "easy blade" attachment for it. I find it kind of strange that they use straight up velcro for the scrubbing side. It comes with an acrylic safe pad that you can stick onto the velcro as well though. I would think for the money you pay, they would have developed their own scrubbing material other than slapping a strip of velcro onto it. I took a swing at it and it worked pretty well...left some rough stuff behind but I haven't used it with the blade yet...I krazy glued it onto the wet side of the magnet and I'm leaving it to cure overnight before giving it a shot. The blade sure is sharp though...slit my finger when I was adjusting it.

I'll post back results for how it works with the blade attachment tomorrow.

Yes the bigger one has more surface are but a bow fronts curved glass needs a smaller one to allow the magnet to follow the surface of the glass easier. I have a big one and a little one, like a rough pass and and a finish pass. I use the big one to get most of it off then touch up the small spots with the little one.

So I was about to use it today...I was playing with the magnets...the dry part was inside the box and the wet part was in my hand. The box jumped up to the magnet and the easy blade fell off...the glue broke. So I went and got acetone to remove it and it turned out to be 100% and started taking the plastic off both pieces along with the glue. Such a disaster. I've now opted for gorilla glue and I'm letting it cure...hopefully that works better.

By the way, is it normal for the wet side to rumble while it's being swept inside the tank?

Yes it is normal for your scrubber side of the cleaner to jump or rumble as you call it while cleaning.
