Hi Everyone. I'm new at posting but not really new to the hobby. Long story Short, I started 3 years ago with a small 29 gallon tank, turned it into a reef, lost everything, learned a few things and educated myself, so decided to start anew with a 210 Gallon Reef Tank.
I've had the 210G running for about a year now. Everything is great so far on it except for the last couple of weeks when I had my first Ich breakout, all thanks to the now deceased Achilles Tang. I'm treating for the Ich and hopefully everything will get fixed soon. I'm also installing an UV sterilizer this week to help prevent future breakouts. However, I've been told that truly an Ozonizer is a great addition to a reef tank, not only for parasite control but for overall health for corals and fish alike. In any case, I've been researching this and been told by many hobbyists that the ozonizer is plugged into the skimmer, which you then need to have a bag of carbon in a container at the collection cup to capture any extra ozone. As far as the skematics go, I understand them to a "T". However, my "huge" ASM G4x skimmer (housed under the tank in the sump) comes almost all the way to the top of the stand. Leaving really only about 2 inches of space, which is definitely not enough to place this container of activated carbon. My question to all fellow reefers, is if anyone has run into a similar problem or may have a viable solution. My first and only guess was to "trim" my collection cup so that I could fit the carbon, but I'm having second thoughts about defacing my rather expensive piece of equipment. Any thoughts? Thanks! |
