fresh water shrimp in salt tank and still alive!!

My tank was in the beggining stages of the cycle and my mother had some shrimp that got to big for hers (freshwater)and put them in my tank. i told her to take them to the LFS but she was hard headed and i said W/E.. She put them in there and they are still alive and kicking after several days... !!! In a way i am kinda glad cuz i would not even put damsels in there because of the possibility of them dieing... Anyone heard of this before. My Salintiy is 1.025
