To high of a fish bioloade

So I have a 40g breeder display tank, with Yellow tang and two onyx clowns. Now my question is do you think I have enough room to put in a copper banded, mandarin and a goby?

Also do copper bands have ANY tendency to eat LPS? I have tons or high end chalices and I know the eats Aspasia so could then over time start munching on LPS?

I personally think that your 40g is too small for the yellow tang.
I also don't think that you will be able to produce enough pods to feed a mandarin.

The Tang, Clowns and Copper Banded can get quite large - possibly too large for that size of tank.

I think if you add one goby to the 2 Clowns and remove the Tang to a larger tank or trade it in for a more suitable fish.

I have heard of Copper Bands eating coral but I have no experience here.

The pod population is no problom for me i have a 40g fuge that free falls into my main display. I made it freefall so it would not harm any pods.

I also think the tank is too small for a yellow tang. I think the tank is large enough size-wise to add the goby and mandarin(if you get rid of the tang) although the mandarin will need a LOT of pods. If you have a healthy refugium, that produces a LOT of pods, it MIGHT be ok, but it might not. I have heard that mandarins usually need at least a stable 55 to house enough pods for them. Ok, then I think the mandarin would be ok given your above, while I wrote this response.

Got any pics of your setup? I'd be curious to see how you have that plumbed/setup.

I'll take a few when my 1D comes back. My tank stands at roughly four feet tall, on its stand. Behind the wall at 4 foot 3 inches i have another fourty gallion with one baffle four inches from the wall with a drain pipe on that side the the baffle. The baffle is there to stop chato from hitting the drain pipe and getting sucked into my main tank. On the side where i have 14 inches i have a hole drilled and a line where i push water up into the side of the tank. This water comes up threw one of my two "Up" lines from my return pump that is "t'd" off right before it goes into my tank. Then the down line (from the 40g fuge) again is led right into my main tank threw one of my drilled holes in my main tank.

Do you understand? i built it this way knowing that when you have a fuge in your sump my red dragon would kill most of the pods that got to the pump. My way just allows water to flow from my fuge freely into my main tank allowing to my knowlage all my pods to live. This help establish my pod and tank a little bit faster i think, along with allowing me to have a ton of pods. I belive this is crazy over kill i think i could of been good with roughly a 20g tank due to little pods are being killed in the transfer between tanks. But its what i have now the only prob is cleaning my fuge its high up and annoying. I think i lack on that part and allow my chato to grow alot more the i would like and clean it less then i would like due to how annoying it is getting to it.

Time will tell if you can produce enough food for the mandarin. Copperbands are difficult to get to eat (although if they do eat, it is an even bet they will munch on coral), not a fish I believe we should keep in aquariums due to the high mortality rate. A 40 gallon tank is too small for any tang, even a yellow. The golby will be fine as long as the clowns are not overly territorial.

+1 on copper bands being a poor addition to any aquarium

+2 on the copperband, most will at least nibble on lps and soft corals.

I'd be hesitant of having either the Tang or Copperband in something as small as a 40g, not to mention that the Copperbands are very well known to be difficult to keep. How long has this system been setup?

i agree with what others have already posted. The tank isn't big enough for the tang or a copperband in the long run ( not to mention everything else revolving around the copperband) Mine is NOT safe with LPS especially chaices and acans.
