Light for live rock?

I have been looking for a answer to this question and have found mixed results, the question is does live rock in a sump need light? There is no macro algae in the sump just live rock.

thanks in advance

Live rock does not need light in a sump. Some life forms that live on the rock may die off but other life forms that are light adverse can flourish. For example any coraline algae may die off but sponges might do well in the dark.
