Getting a relationship out of a watchman goby and a pistol shrimp?
In a future tank I plan on adding a yellow watchman goby and a pistol shrimp. Is there some special way to get them to pair up or does it just happen when they come in contact with eachother?

I had my yellow watchman goby for 3 years before I introduced a tiger pistol shrimp, took them 2 weeks to find each other and have been inseperable since

As Nike says: "just do it". No problems as long as you have a species of pistol shrimp that will form a commensal relationship. Some don't. I have a pair of those gorgeous shrimp.

There's nothing special you can do, they will find each other and pair up if that's what they want to do. Usually takes a couple of days to a few weeks.

ah most are wrong, there ARE certain things you can do that will possibly make them pair faster! try acclimating in the same bag and dumping in the same spot. if possible, prebuild a burrow under a rock and dump them together in that spot. make sure you get a pistol that is reef safe and is possible to have a symbiotic relationship with a goby!
