vodka vs. algae
I have only been treating my tank with vodka for 8 days now. I am curious as to how long it takes for the algae to die off. Will it slowly disappear or will it all just fall off at the same time? any info you can give would be great. Thanks.
news: my stingray keeps bumping into my black spiked urchin and leaving brown marks on him wherever he gets stung. Today i noticed that he got into it good this time. A spike had broken off and was sticking out of his back! despite all efforts to remove it in the tank I had to put him in a shallow bowl and hold him down. Thankfully he knows me and didnt feel the need to sting my hand. Its out and "spike" will be removed asap. |

I have no idea about the algae, but I like the news story.

What makes you think the algae will die off?

I thought that was the whole purpose of vodka dosing, to lower the phosphates and nitrates. It would get rid of their food supply and thus die. Right?

If you are successful in getting the phosphates under control then you will likely see less algae.
