A 75 gallon slow build-eel, lionfish, etc.

Well over the course of the following 6-8 months I hope to build my 75g and begin my Aggressive tank

Tank inhabitants will be:

For sure:
1)Snowflake eel-(mine)
2) Radiant wrasse (hubby's*)
3) Flame angel (hubby's*)
4)H. Melanurus wrasse-moving from my 29g tank.
*deal was if I bought this tank, hubby gets HIS fish!!! Now I know how to work it

Possible
1)lionfish-mine
2) butterfly fish- mine
3)maroon clown w/rbta

Sump is possibly going to be another 75g since I want plenty of width and 75's seem to be easier to come by. Tank will be in my living room w/the plumbing going through the floor so my semi-noisy sump can be in the basement. Will also be easier for WC.

Just brought the tank home last night:

Tank and hood

Stand

My daughter hasn't really seen any tanks with a top on them and when she walked in our front door and saw the tank she tipped her head to the side looking confused. Turning looking at me in total confusion she says "Mommy is it upside down?" Priceless moments, I guess

This will be kind of a slow build w/things added to the thread here and there.

Now I need to figure out my plumbing and look at skimmers, return pumps, what type of flow unit I may have coming off of my return piping and all that stuff. Lots of planning to do Part of the fun of it.

Snowflakes ? Why? Check out morrays. I keep a yellow head morray. He is awsome. In a 100g with z trigger and tuskfish. And a few damsels. Morrays are alot more fun in my opinion.flame angel is a little small depending on which lion you pick. I wouldn't pute a flame in with a maroon clown either. Each their own but you must look at the big picture and long term. Realist would say a lion and eel is capacity of a 75g or even one as species tank. Its hard to have alot of aggressive fish in a 75g.

A snowflake is a moray
http://www.wetwebmedia.com/snowflakemoray.htm

I've always been fascinated w/snowflakes and they aren't fish eaters(generally), just shrimps n crustacean's.

Sorry I forgot to say that I intend to do a dwarf lion(Dendrochirus brachypterus, possibly).

http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-11/fm/feature/

This potential mixture was ok'd in the aggressive section of RC. I'll keep what you said in mind and I don't intend to include everything I listed. Just the 4 sure's (4 fish) and at least 1 of the possibles. I intend to have a hell of a skimmer on it, which is also part of the reason it'll take me awhile to get it all set up. I want to do it right and with the right equipment and not short change it in any way.
(Stocking question for a 75g aggressive tank.)

I don't know if I should do an external or internal skimmer?

A tid bit of an update.

I picked up a set of lights Wednesday: 175w mh and a 250w mh.

Picked up a 75g to use as the sump Should be lots of room for TOYS!! Well, a 1/3 will probably be a Fuge.

Got the Reef Octopus dnw 200 skimmer.

I'm looking at maybe a Blueline for a return pump. Someone sugested a Blueline 70 from my lrc. Still reading about that stuff. Will have probably at least 15' head loss.

I'm thinking about maybe going for a pair of fu manchu lionfish from DD when my tank is set up and has been running awhile. They've had quite a few lionfish on DD lately and I hope they'll continue to have them in the future. I know shipping can be a big issue with these fish, but DD knows what they're doing so I figure they're the best place to get these fish from, right? Since they are smaller lions, will 5" fish be ok or still on the dinner table? Does anyone know off hand what kind of flow these fish like? I'm thinking probably a little lower since they aren't fanstastic swimmers. I'm trying to figure out what kind of flow to have for the tank. Was thinking maybe 2 seio 1100's. But that would be 29x tank turnover...to much for fu manchu lions?

I'm also pondering a marine betta. Any thoughts on these two fish??

No. I wish!! Slow build man. I'm a secretary!!! Tank looks the same as it does in the picture. I also have to move a 29g before I can set up the 75g. Have to make the sump and do plumbing for the 29g also. As well as do something for the hood on the 29. Those will be done first.

Have to wait until it warms up outside so I can take the stand outside to clean it off and then stain it. I do have a few important parts of the tank, though. Can show you pics of skimmer and lights if you want

Questions too:

Return pump for 75g tank w/about 15' head loss?

Was thinking maybe 2 seio 1100's for flow(29x turnover), but I don't know what I should have for the fu manchu lionfish since they aren't good swimmers.

I hope to get the sump finalized in the next month or two. Fit the skimmer and get the baffles made, etc.
