to macroalgae or not to macroalgae?

I'm setting up a rimless 17 gallon mantis shrimp/ricordea tank. I'm just now learning about macroalgae, and wondering if it is a good idea to have some in my display. There will not be a sump or a skimmer on this set up. My thinking is to help with nutrient export and help keep nuisance algae at bay. Which is a good display macro that won't go all crazy and is easy to trim and keep in one area as I want the ricordeas to be the focus of the tank?

or should I just skip macroalgae altogether?
