What might this hitch hiker be?

Its about 1cm across, white hard shell kinda shaped like a fake finger nail. Inside is a small snail looking creature, two antenna or eye stock kinda things and a little cute mouth.

I cant get a picture till my wife gets home, for now its still in a glass of tank water.

What might this thing be? safe/unsafe?

Ive had Stomatella before, they seem to have alot more body to shell ratio than this guy.

that is like 3/5ths body, the guy in the cup is like 2/3rds shell.

+1 sounds like a stomatella. Chances are if you see one then you have dozens. Take a look when the lights are out.

Chiton?

I have 2-3. They are estimated to live a century or more.

That's him in the pic? Stomatella. The shape and size of the shell varies.

read what I said in that post, thats a pic of a stomatella I just found on the internet, what I say in the post is that the shell on a stomatella is much smaller than what I have. What I have is about 2/3rds shell, there is no way for the body to extended out from the shell like a stomatella.

ie a stomatella will always have some fleshyness exposed, this guy couldn't expose flesh with out getting flipped over.

Ill go take a pic...

I cant get a good pic, crappy camera...

Its like a limpet, but a very different shell type than a key-hole limpet, Imagine a limpet that lived in a white finger nail. Either way he got permanently removed...

Thanks everyone.
