need multiple opinions on this ID
the guy at atlantisaquarium.net said they were not mojano and that he thought they were either some kind of baby anenomes or rock flower anenomes. he said he didn't think they were pests though. he told me he thought another thing on another coral was a pest so i don't think he's lying. what do you all think it is? i noticed that the arms of this thing bulb out at the edges. i haven't noticed that in other mojano pics. could this be some kind of bulb anenome? thanks

looks like baby Bubble tip anemones. Just very ordinary brown colored though. Not majano though. Could be rock nems, but looks like BTA. Get a real close up on one if you can.

So, do majanos have bubble tips some of the time?
A friend of mine got a small bubble-tipped anemone from a member of his reef club. After a while they began to split like crazy. They looked kind of majano-ish, so now we are wondering about them! ![]() ![]() |

it's a majano. I asked the same question in hope that some I had on my LR may have been a baby BTA but the coloration is what throws them off. I also QT'd one for a month (after I zapped the rest in my DT) and once it got nickel sized it began to split like crazy.

Interesting! These didn't have the open area over the mouth like I see in so many pictures of majanos. I suppose there is a lot of variation.
At least they look better than aiptasia, IMO! ![]() |
